Best of Breed, 2001 Borzoi Club of America National Specialty
Judge: Mrs. Patricia Trotter
I chose the Japanese word "kinobi" as my kennel name because it means "the harmony of function and beauty" and reflects how highly I value the borzoi’s special combination of elegance and athleticism.
I have lived with borzoi since 1981. Although I have owned and loved a number of other breeds over the years, including Irish Wolfhounds, Bernese Mountain Dogs, and a Belgian Malinois, borzoi remain the breed nearest my heart. My dogs are first and foremost companions, so health, longevity, and temperament are key concerns for me as an owner and as a breeder. I enjoy participating at dog shows, lure coursing, and racing. In late years I have also become interested in agility and rally.
My best known borzoi “Dani” (BIS/MBISS Am. & Can. Ch. Kyrov Kinobi Dancing Star JC) won Best of Breed at the BCOA National Specialty in 2001, and was the #1 borzoi, owner-handled, that same year. I have bred, owned, and/or handled numerous conformation and performance titled borzois, including Specialty and Group Winning hounds, as well as Best in Field coursers.
Due to family and professional obligations, I have bred relatively few litters. Each litter grows from years of research, plans, and dreams. Many of my dogs are co-bred or co-owned with Melissa Pearce, Attaway Borzoi, Peyton, CO.
